Hi Everyone and Happy Mother's Day to all you great moms!
I want to thank all of you for making teacher appreciation week so nice for me. I appreciated all the notes, flowers, cards, treats, and the kind words of encouragement from you! Wow, the year is winding down very quickly. We have a lot planned these next few weeks in our classroom. I have listed below several dates that you need to be aware of.

May 26th- Students eating lunch in lunchroom.

May 27th- End of year picnic. 10:30 in our classroom.

May 31st- Memorial Day No school.

June 1st- Field Day 10:00-11:30

June 2nd- Last day of Kindergarten. Regular Schedule

Please call if you have any questions. Thanks again.

Hi Everyone. I hope you had an enjoyable weekend. It's May already and it is going to be a very busy month! Wednesday (May 5th) is Zoo Day. Don't forget to pack your child a lunch that day and please be on time. We will be leaving around 9:00 and returning to the school in between 1:00-1:15. If I have contacted you to be a chaperone, please be in my room at 8:45. I have some information that I need to distribute. Don't forget testing week (May 17th-21st). You should have received your testing day and time already. If you did not receive this information, please call me. Also, we will be having a class end-of-the-year picnic on THURSDAY MAY 27TH AT 10:30. More information will be coming. I will be submitting the last book order of the year on Tuesday. If you would like to order, please order before Tuesday. Thank you aging for all your support! I am looking forward to summer, but I will miss your children very much. It is always bittersweet!

Hi Everyone,
I hope you had a great spring break! What is up with this weather!?! Hopefully you went somewhere warm and sunny for the break. We will have a spelling test this week. It will be on Friday. If you have not handed in the reading and homework calendars for March please do so as soon as possible. We have two months left of the school year...can you believe it? Let's continue to work hard on reading and give it one more big push so the students will be ready for first grade. There is no more snack time in our classroom, so please make sure your child gets a good breakfast before he/she comes to school. Animal reports begin this week. I am so excited to hear what your child has learned about his/her animal. If you have any questions please call me. Have a great week!

Hi Everyone,
Happy Easter! There is no spelling words this week since it is a short week. Wednesday is a short day this week, because of spring break. Don't forget to turn in reading and homework calendars for March. I will be sending home April's calendars on Wednesday, along with the volunteer calendar. Starting next Tuesday (May 6th) we will no longer be having snack time in our classroom. Please be sure your child has a good breakfast before he/she comes to school each day. There is no snack time in 1st grade and this will make the adjustment next year a little easier. Have a great spring break and be safe! Thank you for all your help and support.

Happy spring everyone! Wow, the weeks are flying by. I can't believe how fast the year is going. This week in our classroom, we will continue to work on telling time in math, writer's workshop and dictionary pages. Our unit will be "What hatches from an egg". The spelling words this week are the _og words. The test will be on Friday. There will be no spelling next week(Mar. 29) because of spring break. It is red ribbon week at school. Each day we will have a special activity. A list of these activities will be sent home today(Mon. Mar.22nd). Also, I have sent home an order form for HIGHLIGHTS magazine. They are offering great rewards for the class as an incentive. The great thing about this is you do not need to order the magazine to get these incentives. Just mark "no" and send the paper back in. I need 15 responses (yes or no) to qualify for the incentives. It is actually a very good magazine if you choose to get it. Thanks for helping out in this matter. Free things are always good right? Have a great week and hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Hi Everyone,
I hope you had a fun weekend. It was good to meet with all of you for SEP Conferences. Thank you for being such great and supportive parents. I believe your children are succeeding in school because of you and your involvement in their learning. This is our first full week in a while. Our spelling test will be on Friday this week. We will be studying weather in science this week. We will continue story problems with addition and subtraction and introduce telling time. I am excited for my students to get back to Writer's Workshop and write in their journals. We haven't done it for a while and they seem to really miss it. Hopefully the weather will be warming up and spring is right around the corner!! Have a terrific week.

I am looking forward to meeting with all of you this week for SEP Conferences. You should have received a confirmation letter for your time and day. If you did not receive that , please call me. The conferences are 15 minutes long. I LOVE to talk to you and find myself at the end of the day running behind and parents having to wait longer. I am going to try my best to stay on schedule. If I feel like we need more time to talk I will schedule another appointment with you at a later date. I will be sending home the report card on Wednesday. Please look it over and come with any questions that you may have. Remember that Thursday is a short day this week and there is no school on Friday. Our spelling test will be on Thursday this week. I am so excited to share your child's progress so far in Kindergarten. I know you will be very proud of them. I know I am!! Have a great week.

I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day and you enjoyed the long weekend. We had such a fun time at our class party last Friday. I want to thank our head room parent, Jamie Brough, for planning it for us. I would also like to thank all of the parent volunteers who came to help or send supplies for the party. We will be celebrating our 100th Day of school on Tuesday. Can you believe it? This year is flying by! We have some fun activities planned for this special day. Be sure to ask your child all about it. I am looking forward to seeing you at our "Walking Report Card" this Friday (Feb. 19th) at 8:55. It should last about 1-1 1/2 hours and you can take home your child when you are done since it is short day. Please remember that each student can only have one parent in attendance due to the size of our classroom. If you have any questions, please feel free to call. There will be no spelling words this week due to the short week. Please look for the notes coming home about conferences that will be held in March. I am excited to meet with you and celebrate your child's success. Have a great week!

It's Valentine's Week in Mrs. Rigby's Class. We will be doing some fun activities in math in honor of Valentine's Day. Please remember that our 100th Day of School homework is due on Wed. Feb. 10th. We will be celebrating our 100th Day on Tues. Feb. 16th. We will be participating in the Jump For Heart activity on Thurs., Feb. 11th. I know that jump roping can be a hard skill for kindergartners. I will be there to help and encourage the children on. We are not looking to see who can jump and who can't, we are doing it for fun. Even if your child doesn't know how to jump they can still participate and I will be there to teach them. What a great way to learn to jump rope! Friday is our _ig spelling test. It will be right before our class party. Students may bring in there Valentine's on Thursday or Friday. There are 23 students in our class. Please make sure your child has a valentine for everyone. Write who it is from and leave who it is to blank. It makes it so much easier to pass them out. Have a great Pres. Day weekend!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Our last week in January is a very busy one. Spelling words will come home on Monday, and the test will be on Friday. Please have your student practice writing the sentence with a capital at the beginning, spaces between words, and a period at the end. Writer's Workshop is going well. Some students can't think of ideas to write about. Please help your child by pointing out things that they could write about. Example: going sledding or a movie. Also, they can write about things that are make believe also. Please continue to fill out the Jan. Reading Calendar and Jan. Homework Calendar. They are due next Monday. Please mark February 19th on your calendar. We will be having our "Walking Report Card" that day. More information will be coming the first of February. Have a great week! Hi Everyone! I hope you had an enjoyable weekend. I will be sending home your child's first spelling list on Monday. The test will be on Friday. Don't forget to practice writing the sentence correctly. Using a capital at the beginning, spaces between words, and a period at the end. These spelling tests will prepare your child for the spelling program in first grade. We will be starting Writer's Workshop on Tuesday. The journals will be left school. Your student will share their journal with you at SEP Conferences in March. I am still in need of some help on Tues. and Thurs. from 10:45-11:40. Let me know if you would like to change your volunteer schedule to come in on these days instead. As always, I appreciate you and your support. It is fun seeing the growth in each of your children. Thank you for letting me be a part of their lives.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I am so excited to begin 2010 with your child. I have a lot of new and exciting things that I will be implementing in the next few weeks. We will begin our spelling program on Monday. Please look for the instructions and Spelling List #1 that will be coming home that day. Spelling tests will usually be on Fridays.

TOY DAY IS FRIDAY, JANUARY 8TH. Your child may bring a favorite toy to show the class. I will give them a little time to play with their toys also.

***Help Needed*** We will be starting our Writer's Workshop Program soon and I am in need of some volunteers to help. We will be writing every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:45-11:30. If any of you would like to change your volunteer day and time to either of these times, please let me know. The program works best if I have myself and two other volunteers helping. Thanks!

Some of you have asked about our need for supplies in our classroom. We could use some hand sanitizer, Skittles, gallon size zip lock bags, and snack items. These donations are not required and are all voluntary, but greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all your support.
